Recently, Toscolano Maderno approved a redevelopment project for the Pattinodromo area, which is set to be transformed into a parking lot, significantly reducing the space available for public events. The resolution, published on April 7, 2025, outlines an expenditure of approximately 3 million Euros and has raised concerns among local associations, particularly the Liberamente Association, which organizes the well-known music festival Rockerellando. This green area, currently underutilized but historically a venue for various community events, risks losing much of its functionality as a meeting place.
The Legambiente Circle for Garda has expressed strong reservations about the project, emphasizing the lack of consultation with citizens and suggesting more sustainable alternatives. Among these is the proposal to create a genuine festival area that could remain open to the public even when no events are taking place. The criticism focuses on the need to preserve green spaces rather than sacrificing the environment to increase parking in an area already congested with traffic. The municipal administration is urged to reflect on these issues and to initiate a constructive dialogue with the community regarding the future of the Pattinodromo area.
