On Monday, July 1, 2024, an alarm was raised for a missing surfer in the upper Lake Garda. The report came in to the emergency number 112, indicating that a man was in distress in the waters near Mount Brione, between Riva del Garda and Torbole. The search was immediately launched by the Fire Department of Riva del Garda, with coordination from the Coast Guard of Salò.
The operations covered a wide area, extending from Riva to Torbole and near the Casa della Trota, on the border with the Brescia coast near the municipality of Limone. After thoroughly searching the entire perimeter with no positive outcome, the rescue units concluded the search and returned to base.
