Ali Lavoro has initiated a trial of the short workweek, becoming the first Italian company to implement this new work organization aimed at improving employees’ work-life balance. Preliminary results, gathered in an ebook created in collaboration with SDA Bocconi, indicate an increase in revenue of over 7 million euros and a significant reduction in work-related stress, with negative emotions decreasing by 7.3% and a 12.2% decline in the perceived impact on personal life.
During the period from July 2023 to February 2024, employees also reported improvements in task clarity and work organization. The extra free time was primarily used for household care or recreational activities. Despite the reduction in weekly working hours from 40 to 32, economic performance not only remained stable but showed an increase compared to the previous year. The data suggests that the short workweek could become a permanent structure within the company.
