On April 25, 2024, Sirmione will celebrate Liberation Day, a crucial anniversary in Italian historical memory that marks the end of Nazi-Fascist occupation. This year, the celebrations will begin at 10:00 am with a Holy Mass at the Church of Colombare, followed by a series of events designed to reflect on the significance of this day.
At 11:00 am, a significant moment of the commemoration will be the laying of a wreath at the monument dedicated to Salvo D’Acquisto, the heroic carabiniere who sacrificed his life to save civilians during World War II. This symbolic gesture underlines the connection between the struggle for freedom and individual acts of courage and sacrifice.
The celebrations will continue with celebratory speeches and the musical accompaniment of the Sirmione City Band, enriching the atmosphere of commemoration. Following this, at 11:30 am, an aperitif will be held in Piazza Mercato at the Le Palme Restaurant, offering a moment of sharing and reflection for the community.
The Sirmione Municipal Administration invites all citizens to actively participate in the events and to display the tricolor flag as a sign of respect and remembrance. This day represents an important opportunity to celebrate the values of freedom and resistance that continue to inspire Italian society.
