Italy is renowned worldwide for its rich culinary tradition, which represents a true cultural heritage. Among the Italian excellences stands out the Prosciutto di San Daniele, a true symbol of our artisanal production and a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) product.
Prosciutto di San Daniele is famous for its delicate and unmistakable flavor, the result of centuries-old tradition and a unique territory. The event “Aria di San Daniele” offers a unique opportunity to discover this delicacy and immerse oneself in Italian gastronomic culture.
“Aria di San Daniele” is a traveling gastronomic tour that brings the prestigious Prosciutto di San Daniele throughout Italy. After the great success of previous editions, the tour started again in 2024 with a rich calendar of events that have touched and will touch some of the most important cities in Italy. The event started in Milan on May 6th and will then visit other cities such as Turin, Genoa, Lake Garda, and in the coming months also Rome, Naples, and Bari.
Each stop will take place in selected venues, such as restaurants, wine bars, and taverns, where participants can enjoy free tastings of prosciutto, themed dinners, and dedicated events. The 2024 edition introduces a new interaction between the product and the host venues, allowing participants to taste dishes based on Prosciutto di San Daniele paired with specially selected drinks and wines to enhance its unique characteristics.
Mario Emilio Cichetti, General Director of the Consortium, stated that “Aria di San Daniele is a format designed to make the values of San Daniele PDO known and appreciated through the dynamics of Italian restaurants.” Since 2017, the tour has generated over 250 evenings, visiting as many venues and meeting more than 40,000 consumers.
From June 3rd to June 6th, the “Aria di San Daniele” tour will stop at four charming venues on Lake Garda, offering unforgettable evenings of good food and tradition.
On Monday, June 3rd, at the Silk restaurant in Sirmione: Silk, located on the lakeside of Lugana in Sirmione, can be reached through a beautiful walk that winds between Lugana and Puntagrò, rich in wide beaches, meadows, and wonderful views of Lake Garda. The restaurant offers simple and genuine dishes, with particular attention to seasonality and the origin of products, accompanied by excellent local wines.
On Tuesday, June 4th, at Osteria alla Torre in San Martino della Battaglia: Osteria alla Torre is located on a large natural terrace within the Risorgimento park of the Tower of San Martino della Battaglia in Desenzano del Garda. Located on the Wine and Flavors Road of Lake Garda, the osteria offers typical dishes of the area, revisited in an original way, in an extremely welcoming setting.
On Wednesday, June 5th, at Zanoni Bottega & Cucina in Rivoltella: since 2014, the Zanoni brothers have managed this Bottega & Cucina, offering, on every occasion – from lunches to dinners, including aperitifs – homemade products and Italian gastronomic excellences from the kitchen to the table. It is a real point of reference for both locals and tourists looking for a gourmet stop.
On Thursday, June 6th, at Cascina Capuzza in Selva Capuzza: in the Cascina Capuzza estate, there is the eponymous restaurant, a winemaking cellar, and the apartments of Borgo San Donino, next to the ancient consecrated church. Located in a prominent hillside position, the farm is in the heart of the DOC areas of Garda Classico, Lugana, and Tuchì. Since 2021, the significant union with the Mattinzoli family has favored the combination of territorial excellence with Italian culinary tradition, creating creatively interpreted dishes that maintain the authenticity of local recipes.
In short, keeping Italian culinary traditions alive is essential to preserve our cultural and culinary heritage. Events like “Aria di San Daniele” not only celebrate excellences such as Prosciutto di San Daniele but also offer an opportunity to rediscover the roots of our cuisine. Participating in these evenings is a way to enjoy the authentic flavors of our territory and support the traditions that make Italy unique.
