An important operation by the local police in Bardolino led to the arrest of a German citizen wanted in Germany for intentional homicide and theft. The incident occurred on the evening of July 23, when the man was stopped while behaving suspiciously in the historic center of the town.
Details of the Arrest
The commander of the local police, Francesco De Santis, explained that the patrol on duty received a report regarding a vehicle with a German license plate. A German police officer present in the area confirmed the suspicions after checking the plate and discovering that the owner was wanted for serious crimes. During the operations, the suspect was located inside a bar near the local police headquarters.
Surprise During the Search
Subject to a search, the individual, born in 1984 and residing in Dresden, was found in possession of a significant amount of cash totaling 3,800 euros and various drugs, including cocaine and marijuana. Authorities then decided to extend the search to the arrested person’s vehicle.
Shocking Discoveries in the Vehicle
During the search of the car parked in a private area, officers discovered a suitcase containing additional psychoactive and doping substances, including more cocaine and four packages of Fentanyl, known as “the zombie drug.” Furthermore, burglary tools and a firearm with its serial number removed were found.
Charged Offenses
After notifying the competent Public Prosecutor’s office, the man was arrested for various offenses, including possession with intent to distribute drugs and illegal possession of firearms. Following the necessary procedures at the Forensic Police office of the Verona Police Headquarters, the individual was transferred to the Montorio correctional facility.
Mayor Daniele Bertasi expressed satisfaction with the efficiency of the law enforcement agencies: “We thank our officers for this important operation to safeguard the safety of Bardolino residents.” City councilor Alessandra Galiotto also emphasized the importance of the local police’s work in this instance.
