A 38-year-old Romanian national has been arrested in Manerba del Garda, bringing his international fugitive status to an end. The man was apprehended outside a supermarket, where officers from the Valtenesi local police carried out the arrest following a European arrest warrant issued by Germany, where he had been sentenced to one year and six months in prison for driving without a license. The operation took place last Sunday evening during a targeted initiative aimed at preventing thefts and robberies in supermarkets.
In addition to the arrest warrant, the fugitive had also accumulated several charges in Italy for offenses such as fraud, fraudulent insolvency, and aggressive begging. Following his arrest, the man was transferred to the Canton Mombello prison in Brescia, where he will remain pending extradition to Germany.
