Over the past weekend, the Carabinieri Company of Peschiera del Garda implemented an increase in surveillance services along the shores of Lake Garda and on the main communication routes. This initiative aimed to combat predatory crimes and micro-criminality, while also ensuring careful monitoring of road traffic.
One of the most significant operations took place on the night between Sunday and Monday when the Carabinieri of the Peschiera del Garda station arrested a 50-year-old man from Castelnuovo del Garda. The arrest was made in compliance with a warrant of imprisonment issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Verona Court, Penitentiary Executions sector. The arrested individual had been sentenced to a two-year and four-month prison term, as well as a fine of 2000 euros, for offenses related to the possession and trafficking of drugs, committed in Pescantina in June 2020.
In a subsequent operation in Bardolino, the military arrested a 58-year-old Italian resident, in execution of another warrant from the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Forlì Court. The individual is serving a sentence of five years and five months for financial crimes, including attempted fraud and extortion, committed between 2015 and 2017 in the areas of Rimini and San Lazzaro.
After the completion of the necessary formalities, both arrested individuals were transferred to the Verona-Montorio Penitentiary, where they were made available to the Judicial Authority.
The Carabinieri’s control activities will not be limited to the coastal context alone but will also extend to inland areas considered of particular interest and sensitivity. Security remains a priority, and these operations are part of a broader framework of initiatives aimed at ensuring the tranquility of both citizens and the numerous tourists who visit the beauties of Lake Garda.
