A 40-year-old man from Brescia has been reported at liberty in Castiglione delle Stiviere on charges of attempted extortion and vandalism. The individual allegedly presented himself at a local massage center, pretending to be a fake carabiniere, and threatened the owner with sanctions and the closure of the business due to alleged irregularities unless she handed over €2,500. Despite the intimidation, the woman refused to comply with his demands.
After the failed extortion attempt, the man damaged the establishment’s window by deliberately crashing his car into it before fleeing the scene. The Carabinieri, upon receiving a complaint from the owner, initiated an investigation that led to the identification of the man, who was subsequently taken to the police station. There, with the assistance of a lawyer, he reportedly admitted his responsibilities. He is currently awaiting trial for the offenses committed.
