Severe weather is on the way for the Lake Garda, with a significant increase in water discharge expected in the Mincio River to manage the already high water levels. This morning, Saturday, April 12, a decision was made to greatly increase the discharge from the Salionze dam at Ponti sul Mincio, following consultations between the Garda Community and the Interregional Agency for the Po River (AIPo). The Agency announced that, in line with previously announced measures, the water diversion level has been raised from 48 cubic meters per second to 150 mc/s.
This intervention is necessary not only to prevent a further rise in lake levels in light of the anticipated rainfall but also to meet the growing irrigation needs of the Verona and Mantua areas. Currently, lake levels are around 144.8 centimeters above the hydrometric zero.
