On Saturday, October 12, at 11 AM, the Auditorium of the Vittoriale degli Italiani will host Beatrice Venezi for the presentation of her new book titled **”Puccini Against All. Arias, Fugues, and Caprices of a Nonconformist Genius,”** published by Utet. This event is part of the celebrations for the centenary of the famous composer’s death.
Venezi, who shares Tuscan roots with Puccini, has dedicated years to discovering and interpreting the works of this great master. In her book, the author presents a unique biography composed of eleven stories that explore significant moments in Puccini’s life, accompanied by his own melodies. This narrative approach aims to offer a deeper and more personal view of the artist, highlighting his nonconformist nature and the complexity of his creative genius.
The work is enriched by direct quotes from Puccini himself, such as the one in which he states: “With all sincerity, I do not work. When love does not inspire, I remain silent and live as if I do not know a note.” These words reflect the artistic sensitivity of a man deeply connected to his land and his art.
The music of Giacomo Puccini continues to resonate in the minds and hearts of Italians; many can recognize the famous arias from his operas without necessarily knowing the face or name of the composer. The presentation promises to be a unique moment to delve into the figure of Puccini through the eyes of a fellow Tuscan who has made him the subject of study and passion.
Admission to the event is free but subject to reservation until all seats are filled.
