On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 29, 2024, a 9-meter sailboat experienced a breakdown off the hydroelectric plant between Riva and Limone, on Lake Garda. There were five people on board who requested assistance through the emergency number 112. The prompt intervention of the Fire Department allowed them to quickly secure the boat, which was zigzagging with the mainsail while waiting for help.
The operation was coordinated by the Coast Guard in Salò, with the support of the inland water team of the State Police. The vessel was safely towed to the San Nicolò harbor without any damage or injuries to the crew members. This incident highlights the importance of rescue operations on the lake, especially with the increase in tourist traffic during the summer season.
