The ULSS 9 Scaligera Company has announced its participation in the 2024 edition of PASSI (Progress of Health Companies for Health in Italy), a national and regional surveillance system that monitors behavioral risk factors related to chronic diseases in the Italian adult population, aged between 18 and 69.
The PASSI project is integrated into the National Health System and is structured on three main levels. The Local Health Units (ASL) conduct sample surveys on the population registered in health lists, collecting data useful for local actions. At the regional level, the activities of the ASLs are coordinated by the Regions, which define the needs and priority knowledge in terms of prevention. Finally, the Higher Institute of Health carries out functions of guidance, development, training, and research at the central level, ensuring the methodological rigor of the survey.
Surveillance systems like PASSI are part of the Essential Levels of Assistance (LEA) that each Region must ensure in the context of collective prevention and public health. These tools provide key indicators for monitoring the health objectives established both in the National Prevention Plan and in the Regional Plans.
The PASSI survey is carried out through standardized telephone interviews lasting approximately 15 minutes. Trained personnel from the Health Companies conduct these interviews using a predefined questionnaire. The individuals to be interviewed are randomly selected from the health registry, with stratified sampling by sex and age.
To ensure the confidentiality of the data collected during the interviews, all measures provided by current privacy regulations are adopted.
Some residents of local municipalities may be selected to participate in the survey. Those interested will receive an informative letter from the ULSS 9 Scaligera Company containing all the necessary details to participate in the project.
