During the New Year period, it is expected that around 1.3 million Italians will embark on trips, with a significant portion heading to foreign destinations. According to a survey conducted by the Centro Studi Turistici di Firenze for Assoviaggi Confesercenti, approximately 450,000 travelers will stay in Italy, while nearly 850,000 will travel abroad. Reservations indicate a 4% decline compared to last year, influenced by the rise in global travel prices and the high costs of services, which weigh heavily on Italian travelers.
Italians’ preferences are leaning towards European capitals and Mediterranean countries, with a growing interest in cruises and tailor-made trips. Among the most sought-after domestic destinations are Trentino-Alto Adige and Tuscany, while Spain and France rank among the most popular foreign locations. Despite the overall decline in bookings, the appeal of certain locations continues to grow, suggesting an evolving tourism landscape for the new year.
