The ninth edition of the BVG Trail concluded with a synchronous finish for Daniele Jung and Alexander Hutter in the men’s race, while Chiara Bertino dominated the women’s competition. The race took place on the great trail of Alto Garda, with a course of 55 kilometers and a positive elevation gain of 3,200 meters.
Jung, from Naturno in South Tyrol, and Hutter, an Austrian national, crossed the finish line together in Navazzo with the same time: 5 hours, 27 minutes, and 11 seconds. Both appreciated the course and expressed satisfaction with their performance.
In the women’s race, Chiara Bertino from Podistica Torino claimed victory with a time of 7 hours and 9 minutes. She demonstrated her knowledge of the Alto Garda mountains and left the other competitors behind. Cristina Filippini from the Us Malonno team finished in second place, more than seven minutes behind the winner.
In the Marathon, a 42-kilometer race with a positive elevation gain of 2,600 meters, Diego Angella from Sicurlive confirmed his consistent presence at the BVG Trail by winning for the ninth time. He completed the course in 4 hours, 17 minutes, and 2 seconds. In the women’s podium of the same category, Roberta Schivalocchi (Valchiese), Tiziana Bianchini (Us Malonno), and Monica Affaticati (Un&Down Piacenza) took the top spots.
Finally, in the BvgRun race, a 23-kilometer race with a positive elevation gain of 1,050 meters, Giuseppe Pedretti from New Athletics Sulzano won in 1 hour, 39 minutes, and 25 seconds. Camilla Magliano from Orecchiella Garfagnana claimed victory in the women’s category.
Overall, approximately 450 athletes participated in the BVG Trail, which took place between Gargnano, Toscolano Maderno, and Tignale. Despite the cool weather with alternating sun and threatening clouds, the event was a success thanks to the organization of the BVG Committee and the support of Gs Montegargnano and Uisp Trail.
With the conclusion of the ninth edition of the BVG Trail, the organizers are already thinking about the next edition, which will mark the race’s tenth anniversary. In the meantime, the Uisp Trail Running Challenge will continue with the next event in Gardone Riviera on May 5th.
