Calcinatello, attempted robbery at Mondialpol vault: the perpetrators are fugitives. Following the ruling by the Court of Cassation, which dismissed the appeals of eleven defendants in the attempted robbery that took place in March 2022, several members of the gang have managed to evade justice and are currently on the run. Among them is Tommaso Morra, considered the leader of the criminal group, who is already known to law enforcement. While under house arrest awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision, he is now untraceable, along with several accomplices from Cerignola. The confirmed sentence imposes a penalty of 12 and a half years of imprisonment on Morra.
The planning of the criminal operation was meticulous, with the aim of seizing a haul estimated at 83 million euros. However, the police raid thwarted the gang’s plans before they could be executed. Massimiliano Cannatella, a security guard involved in the case for providing useful information to the robbers, has also received a sentence confirmed by the Cassation. Authorities are currently intensifying efforts to locate Morra and his accomplices, who are accused not only of attempted robbery but also of other crimes related to the failed operation.
