A serious road accident occurred at dawn on Monday, November 11, 2024, along the Gardesana Orientale in the area of Peschiera, heading towards Valeggio sul Mincio. The incident required a massive response from rescuers, law enforcement, and firefighters, as three vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, presumably due to a lane invasion that led to the destruction of two cars. Two drivers, aged 46 and 49, sustained only minor physical injuries and were admitted to Pederzoli Hospital.
Conditions were more severe for a 26-year-old man who became trapped in the wreckage of the cabin. Firefighters were called to rescue him and prepare for his urgent transport to Borgo Trento Hospital in Verona; fortunately, he is not in life-threatening condition despite the severity of his injuries. Officers from the Bardolino Traffic Police, Carabinieri, and Local Police were also on the scene to manage traffic and conduct the necessary investigations, resulting in a temporary closure of the affected roadway.
