The traffic situation around Lake Garda will be significantly affected due to the closure of the San Zeno tunnel in Lonato, which will commence on January 20 and last for an entire year. During the first three months, the closure will be total, while in the following nine months, there will be a night-time traffic ban from 8 PM to 7 AM. This tunnel serves as a crucial junction for traffic between Desenzano and Brescia, handling approximately 100,000 vehicles per day; its closure will force motorists to seek alternative routes, potentially leading to congestion on secondary roads.
The works, coordinated by A4 Holding, are necessary to address issues related to water infiltration and to enhance safety measures through the implementation of advanced technologies. There will also be interventions for the resurfacing of the pavement and sidewalks. The Municipality of Padenghe has already begun communicating with citizens regarding the expected inconveniences and will suggest alternative routes. Although the most significant disruptions are anticipated at the beginning of the works, the repercussions will continue during the night hours throughout the construction period. Further updates on the works will be provided in the coming days.
