The closure of the San Zeno tunnel in Lonato continues to not cause significant disruptions to traffic, even on the second day following the ban. Despite the daily flow of approximately 100,000 vehicles passing through the tunnel, peak hours have not seen any congestion on the ring road, thanks to an effective information campaign and the decision of most commuters to opt for the highway. Traffic on the surrounding roads has shown a slight increase, but without leading to any major issues.
The tunnel will remain closed 24 hours a day for the next three months, and afterward, it will only be accessible from 7 AM to 7 PM for an additional nine months. The ordinances limiting heavy vehicle circulation in the historic center have further eased the traffic situation, keeping disruptions to a minimum. By 5 PM, exits onto the ring road were not crowded, and traffic in the town appeared slightly busier than usual, but still manageable.
