Corda Molle: signs announcing the introduction of tolls have been installed. In recent days, the issue of tolls along the Corda Molle has reignited the debate between motorists and local authorities, with the mayors of the area strongly opposing this measure. Recently, signs signed by Autovia Padana have been placed along the roadway, indicating “Toll highway without barriers – collection system – payment within 15 days.” This installation has raised concerns about a possible imminent implementation of the toll for the stretch connecting Montichiari to Ospitaletto.
However, sources close to the Ministry of Transport, including Minister Matteo Salvini, have clarified that the introduction of the toll will not occur before January 1, and that the signs had been planned for some time. Local administrators had recently requested a meeting with Salvini to discuss a possible postponement of at least one year for the implementation, in order to explore alternatives for recouping the investments made by the operator. Currently, the toll introduction entails costs of 10 cents per kilometer for cars and between 20 and 25 cents for heavy vehicles, a decision that has also been contested by a public petition that has gathered nearly 14,000 signatures.
