On September 28, 2024, the city of **Salò** will host the traditional “Margherite in Calchera” festival, an initiative aimed at renewing the flowers painted last year on the pavement. Via Fantoni, also known as Calchera due to its historical lime processing, was named “Via delle Margherite” thanks to the efforts of local residents and merchants who, in 1981 under the guidance of Aurelio Nastuzzo, decorated the path with large daisies. This initiative aimed to draw the attention of local administrations to this ancient road in Salò.
## Involvement of the Municipality
For the first time since the daisies were introduced in Calchera, the **Municipality of Salò** is actively participating in the event, covering the costs and illuminating the historic Via Fantoni. Local businesses are collaborating in the organization of the event with the goal of further enhancing this historically rich area. Mayor Francesco Cagnini expressed satisfaction with the collaboration among various stakeholders: “We are particularly pleased as a municipal administration to be part of the many entities that have joined forces to organize this day.”
## The Importance of Community
The presence of volunteers and residents will be crucial again this year. The organizers wish to promote and celebrate the community spirit that characterizes the event. The cultural association **il Salòttino** will coordinate the volunteers and collect registrations via the email address [info@ilsalottino.art](mailto:info@ilsalottino.art).
## Activities of the Day
Starting at 2:00 PM, various activities will enliven the day. Children will have the opportunity to participate for free in a drawing workshop led by Alice Pasotti in the nearby Piazza Duomo, while teenagers will engage in street art. Once the artistic works are completed, Maison Nama’Soul will offer a relaxing gong bath in the courtyard of Palazzo Fantoni. The evening will culminate at 7:00 PM with a concert by the duo Dinamicamente on the loggia of the former Baden-Powell Gardens.
## Reflections on the Past and Future
“Via Fantoni is a small gem of authenticity,” stated one of the organizers. “We are happy to have revived the historic daisies that brought vibrancy to this wonderful place.” The initiative represents a kind of closing of the circle; what began as a gentle protest against local administrations now finds public support through municipal funding. It is hoped that this event will mark the beginning of a general revival for the area, thanks to the shared commitment between residents and merchants.
In case of adverse weather conditions, the event will be postponed to Sunday, September 29, maintaining the same schedule and locations.
