A deer was rescued this morning by firefighters after getting trapped in the swollen Varone stream, caused by recent rains. The exhausted and unconscious animal was saved thanks to the timely intervention of the emergency teams.
The deer was likely trapped in the stream for several hours before firefighters were called to the scene around 9 am on Saturday, May 25th. The force of the water, amplified by the heavy recent rains, had carried the animal along the bank for about a hundred meters. The rescuers followed the deer until they had the opportunity to enter the water and retrieve it.
Once out of the water, the deer was promptly transported by the attending assistants to receive the necessary veterinary care. The animal’s condition was critical due to prolonged exposure to cold water and the exhaustion accumulated during its attempt to free itself from the current.
The joint intervention of the firefighters and the Forest Corps once again demonstrates the importance of collaboration between different operational forces to ensure the safety of wild animals in the Lake Garda area.
This rescue represents a significant example of the ongoing commitment of local authorities to the protection of wildlife and the management of environmental emergencies.
