The longest triathlon in the world has concluded in Desenzano del Garda, with the first athletes crossing the finish line. The winners, Goulwenn Tristant (France), Jurij Tarca (Czech Republic), and Alfons Mostl (Austria), completed a challenging course that included 114 km of swimming, 5400 km of cycling, and 1266 km of running. Other competitors, including Canadian Shanda Hill, are still in the race but are expected to reach the finish line by October 16.
The event also saw several world records being set: Tristant and Hill established new milestones in their respective categories, while Alexandra Meixner became the first woman to complete 30 consecutive Iron distances. Additionally, Bogomir Dolenc achieved a record in the Deca Ultra non-stop, finishing the required distance ten times in under nine days. The event was a great success and will return next year to Parco Le Ninfee for another edition dedicated to ultra distances.
