Starting from October, Desenzano del Garda will undergo a major urban redevelopment project. The construction works for the second phase of the lakeside promenade will begin, which will be the centerpiece of the new promenade. This project involves creating a greener and aesthetically improved walkway with better lighting.
The section in question extends for approximately 230 meters, starting from the pumping station to via Gramsci. The new pedestrian area will have an average width of 14 meters and will include a greenery-immersed bicycle lane. A distinctive feature will be the panoramic terrace located at via Gramsci, where an artwork by Maestro Xausa depicting Lake Garda between two racing sails will be placed.
This second phase follows the initial intervention, costing 1.1 million euros, which has already led to the expansion of the Desenzanino beach and the creation of the first section of the promenade. The new works are estimated to cost nearly 2.7 million euros and will allow the expansion of the quay for an additional 230 linear meters. The completion of the works is expected by June 2025.
In addition to the main promenade, the current Feltrinelli pier will also be renovated. This intervention involves the restoration of historical plinths and the reconstruction of the original structure using steel beams and wooden beams.
After the conclusion of the second phase, a third and final intervention will follow, which will involve the section between the Feltrinelli beach and vicolo delle Lavandaie. For this final phase, a memorandum of understanding has already been approved between the Basin Authority and the Municipal Administration of Desenzano. The required investment amounts to approximately 2.5 million euros, financed equally by the two entities involved.
If everything proceeds without bureaucratic or logistical obstacles, the works for the third phase could be scheduled between autumn 2025 and spring 2026.
