A gang specializing in the theft of luxury bicycles has struck in Sirmione, targeting a €7,000 e-bike belonging to a German tourist. The incident took place on June 27, 2024, when the tourist had locked the bike to a lamppost in the historic center to buy a boat ticket. The thieves cut the chain and made off with the bicycle, but thanks to the satellite tracking device activated by the owner, the local police were able to locate and recover the vehicle.
The stolen bike was found hidden in a parking lot in Colombare and returned to its rightful owner. While two of the thieves managed to escape, authorities continue to search for their identification and capture. The commander of the local police, Mauro Fezzardi, received thanks from the German tourist, who praised the efficiency of the responding officers. The Security Councilor, Massimo Padovan, reiterated the commitment of the municipal administration to ensure the safety of tourists in the Garda area.
