The twelfth edition of the Salò Run for Telethon took place on a beautiful sunny day, giving participants and spectators a taste of summer. The event, included in the national Fidal calendar, attracted numerous runners to the town on Lake Garda, as it was valid as an individual and team Provincial Championship over 10 km.
Hajjaj El Jebli, originally from Morocco but now representing Atletica Vomano, won the men’s race with a time of 31’53”. He was followed by Mohammed Zouioula from Gruppo Millepiedi, who finished 10 seconds behind. Abdellatif Batel from Atletica Rodengo Saiano, the winner of the 2021 edition, took the third spot on the podium with a 32-second delay. Peter Laziner from Sudtirol Team and Mohsin Foguani from Advance Garda Team 2019 completed the top five.
In the women’s competition, Cristina Cotelli from Atletica Paratico crossed the finish line first with a time of 39’02”, followed by her teammate Nives Carobbio 22 seconds behind. Paola Battaglia from Atletica Gavardo ’90 claimed the third place with a 42-second gap from the winner.
The provincial titles were awarded to Alessandro Dario Rossini (Atl.Valtrompia/JM), Matteo Rosa (Atl.Rodengo Saiano Mico/SM), and Paola Battaglia (Atl.Gavardo ’90/SF).
The entire proceeds from the registrations will be donated to Telethon to support genetic disease research. The event, organized by Runners Salò, received the support of the Sports Department of the Municipality of Salò and the National Center Libertas. Special thanks also go to the volunteers who contributed to the success of the event, both during the race and in the days leading up to it for managing the services related to the event.
The Salò Run for Telethon confirms itself as one of the most important 10 km races in Italy, combining sports and charity in the beautiful setting of Lake Garda.
