A scam targeting an elderly woman recently occurred in Lonato, where two young women posed as false nurses. The victim, an 86-year-old woman living alone, was convinced to hand over 500 euros in cash and valuable jewelry, including her wedding ring, after being misled by a fabricated story about a serious accident involving her granddaughter. The scammers rang the intercom and, appealing to family ties, staged a phone call with an accomplice pretending to be the endangered granddaughter.
After the deception, the elderly woman contacted her relatives to inquire about her granddaughter, only to discover that she had been tricked. The family immediately filed a report with the carabinieri, and now there is significant concern in the town. To raise awareness about these alarming situations, some community members created a video on social media urging people to be vigilant about potential scams and to never open the door to strangers without first verifying their credentials.
