A tense wait is underway in Sirmione for the outcome of the electoral appeal filed with the administrative court (Tar) by former mayoral candidates Marcello Bertoldi and Roberto Campagnola regarding the reelection of Luisa Lavelli during the elections held on June 8 and 9. The two contenders have raised concerns about alleged procedural irregularities in the voting process, with issues reported at various polling stations, including an unsealed ballot box and discrepancies in the ballot counts. The hearing took place yesterday at the Tar of Brescia, where an imminent decision is awaited on whether to annul the election.
Lavelli was declared the winner with 33.70% of the votes, totaling 1,406 preferences, just 15 more than Bertoldi and 31 more than Campagnola. Both appellants emphasized the importance of ensuring administrative transparency, stating that their intention is not to challenge the entire electoral process but rather to verify the regularity of the procedures followed at the polling stations. The Tar’s decision will represent a crucial step for the political future of the city and for citizens’ trust in the local electoral system.
