The Regional Council has approved a motion from the League calling for an enhancement of services and staff at the Gavardo Hospital. Regional councilor Floriano Massardi, the primary sponsor of the document, emphasized the importance of the facility, which serves as many as 76 municipalities in the area and accommodates both residents and tourists. The motion specifically requests the hiring of new doctors and nurses, with particular attention to the departments of pediatrics, cardiology, and radiology, to ensure efficient service.
Massardi highlighted the need to improve the availability of medical personnel, especially in the pediatric emergency department, and proposed measures such as the restoration of the pediatric OBI (Observation and Immediate Care) and the expansion of the hemodynamics service by summer 2025. Additionally, there has been a request to create affordable housing for healthcare professionals through an agreement between ASST Garda and local municipalities. The Lombardy Region has already invested significant resources for renovations and enhancements, but Massardi believes there is still much work to be done to meet the community’s needs.
