The Vittoriale degli Italiani will host a series of culturally significant events. In occasion of the Brescia Photo Festival 2024, three important exhibitions will be inaugurated, celebrating art and culture in various forms.
The exhibition “Il Vittoriale delle Italiane” will be held at the Golfo Nascosto, a new exhibition space located beneath the stands of the Vittoriale theater. Curated by Renato Corsini, artistic director of the Brescia Photo Festival, the exhibition highlights the talent of ten Italian female photographers. The participating artists are Maria Vittoria Backhaus, Mariagrazia Beruffi, Patrizia Bonanzinga, Giusy Calia, Silvia Camporesi, Alessandra Chemollo, Caterina Matricardi, Antonella Monzoni, Luisa Menazzi Moretti, and Ramona Zordini.
Giordano Bruno Guerri, president of the foundation that manages the Vittoriale degli Italiani, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative: “We are happy to dedicate this day and a magnificent exhibition to Italian women.” The exhibition aims to reflect on the different creative personalities of the artists involved in the project. It will be open until September 30, 2024, and some works will be donated to the museum.
Parallel to the photography exhibition, the MAS (Museo d’Annunzio Segreto) will host the exhibition “Agostino De Romanis: nella natura la luce dell’anima” (Agostino De Romanis: in nature, the light of the soul). Composed of thirty works by the Roman artist known for his technical rigor and thematic depth, Marco Di Capua describes De Romanis’ art as follows: “Artists like De Romanis understand the physical and spiritual value of connection.” The works will be on display until June 26, 2024, with “Il manto di Maria della luce” (The mantle of Mary of light), previously exhibited in Rome during the 2023 Christmas celebrations, being one of the highlighted pieces.
Another significant exhibition is “D’Annunzio e la Cina” (D’Annunzio and China), which explores the connections between the East and the West through the work of poet Gabriele d’Annunzio. Curated by Emanuele Gregolin, this exhibition includes creations by contemporary Chinese artists that pay homage to the poet, as well as Italian artistic testimonies on the relationship between d’Annunzio and China. Gregolin emphasizes in the preface to the catalog: “The magical dwelling of Gabriele d’Annunzio […] is a space that houses precious ancient artistic testimonies linked to the East.” The exhibition will be open until September 13 at the Museo d’Annunzio Eroe.
To celebrate these special inaugurations, admission to the Vittoriale Park will be free in the morning from 9 am to 1 pm. An unmissable opportunity to immerse oneself in art and culture in one of the most fascinating places on Lake Garda.
