Due to delays in the transportation of explosives, the blasting on the state road 45 bis Gardesana Occidentale has been postponed to Thursday, March 28th, originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 26th. The operation concerns the area near the northern entrance of the Casagrande tunnel and the starting point of the Ponale trail, where landslides occurred on March 8th, partially blocking the road.
To ensure the safety of workers, the road will be closed to traffic from 9 am to 1 pm during the rock demolition operations. In case of bad weather, the operation will be postponed again.
Once the demolition operations are completed, there will be brief interruptions in traffic until 6 pm, lasting a maximum of 10 minutes. This will allow for the controlled removal of any remaining rock volumes in the area after the explosive charges are detonated.
After last month’s landslide, the Autonomous Province of Trento, in collaboration with the Municipality of Riva del Garda, the fire department, and other competent services, had already carried out a series of targeted interventions to mitigate risks and restore safety in the affected area near Rocchetta. The road had been reopened to traffic on March 15th. However, to ensure the total safety of the area, it is necessary to perform some controlled blasting of the rocks in the area.
It should be noted that the blasting will take place during the morning and only after the passage of students and workers. Furthermore, it is specified that the demolition operations have been scheduled during the week to avoid inconvenience to tourists during the weekend.
