A **fake notary** has been banned by a judge in Verona after investigations by the Financial Police uncovered a document forgery operation. The individual, of Romanian nationality and already a repeat offender, used counterfeit stamps and documents to issue certificates, legalizations, and apostilles. The Public Prosecutor’s Office requested a ban on the exercise of this activity, highlighting that the suspect presented himself as an intermediary for bureaucratic procedures between Italy and Romania, drafting unofficial documents instead of consulting properly registered notaries.
The Financial Police carried out searches that led to the seizure of computer devices and a large amount of documentation. Among the confiscated items were counterfeit stamps bearing the emblem of the Italian Republic and fictitious names of public officials. The suspect earned tens of thousands of euros from this illegal activity, despite having reported very low incomes in recent years. His responsibility will only be established at the conclusion of the ongoing criminal proceedings, maintaining the presumption of innocence as provided by law.
