The Natura Viva Park in Bussolengo is getting ready to host the first edition of Family Halloween, an event dedicated to families that promises fun, entertainment, and shows from October 19 to November 3. During these two weeks, the park will offer a unique experience with activities designed for both adults and children, culminating in special evenings that will explore the secrets of the most fascinating and feared creatures of nature.
Discovery of the Giants
The central theme of the event revolves around the “giants” of the animal kingdom. Among the featured species are the Komodo dragons, known not only for their imposing size but also for their status as a threatened species. Ivan and Padar, the resident dragons of the park, will guide guests in discovering other extraordinary creatures such as otters, tortoises, and anacondas. These species, rather than being feared, deserve attention for the challenges they face due to human activities.
Events and Animations
Every weekend will feature a series of events designed to entertain younger visitors. The classic “Trick or Treat” will be accompanied by informative sessions on “animals of ill omen,” aimed at debunking myths surrounding often misunderstood creatures. The special evenings on October 26, October 31, and November 1 will see the park open until 10:00 PM, with a special ticket available from 4:00 PM.
During these evenings, playful activities will also take place, such as a treasure hunt in the House of Giants, where families can explore mysteries related to various animal species through interactive games.
Conservation Projects
Natura Viva Park is not just a place for leisure; it is actively involved in conservation projects for many of the species within its habitat. The Komodo dragon, for example, has seen its conservation status worsen in recent years and is now considered “threatened.” In response to this crisis, the park supports the “Komodo Survival Program,” an initiative dedicated to the research and protection of the species.
Another significant example is the hermit ibis, which went extinct in Europe in the 16th century due to indiscriminate hunting. Today, it is the subject of a reintroduction project co-financed by the European Union, with Natura Viva Park as the only Italian partner. The barn owl, known for its eerie nocturnal presence, is also facing a significant decline in agricultural habitats and is the subject of studies aimed at its conservation.
The Magic of Halloween at the Park
The Halloween atmosphere will be enhanced by spooky decorations such as illuminated pumpkins and themed street food accompanying live performances by jugglers. At the Simba restaurant, a “ghost dinner” will be offered, ideal for all ages. This event not only provides entertainment but also offers visitors the opportunity to learn valuable information about endangered animal species and the importance of their protection.
