A dramatic episode has shocked the community of Lazise on Lake Garda, where a family conflict has turned into a tragedy. Yesterday, on Friday, July 12th, Franco Campagnari, a well-known candy vendor, was fatally stabbed by his son Marco.
The incident took place inside their home on Tonol Street. According to initial reports, the argument between father and son erupted over the 67-year-old’s decision to sell the two-story country villa where they both resided. Franco Campagnari had brought along a potential buyer, which sparked Marco’s anger.
The Drama
The family dispute reached its climax in the kitchen when Marco, in a fit of rage, repeatedly stabbed his father. Franco Campagnari was known in the area not only for his business but also for the nickname “Gige,” affectionately given to him by the townspeople.
Police Intervention
The carabinieri promptly responded to the residence after receiving a report. They found Marco Campagnari in the garage of the house, visibly agitated and confused. The 47-year-old was immediately apprehended and later transported to Borgo Trento Hospital in Verona for medical examinations.
The entire community has been devastated by this tragic event involving two of its well-known members. The incident once again highlights how devastating family conflicts can be when they escalate into acts of uncontrollable violence.
Conclusions
The investigation is still ongoing to clarify all the details of the incident and determine the exact responsibilities. In the meantime, Lazise mourns the loss of Franco Campagnari and questions how such a tragedy could have occurred within its own community.
