A serious fire broke out on the afternoon of Sunday, December 29, in Montichiari, affecting a two-story building on Via Brescia, home to five families. The alert was raised around 2 PM, leading to a massive response from the rescue teams. Fortunately, despite the devastation of the building, the consequences for the residents were limited: one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, while the police rescued a man trapped inside.
The emergency operation involved the firefighters from Brescia and Desenzano, who managed to extinguish the flames using three fire trucks. However, the fire rendered much of the building uninhabitable, leaving 16 foreign nationals without a home. Preliminary investigations suggest that the flames originated from a chimney and spread to the apartments on the first floor.
