Federfarma Brescia has presented its end-of-year report, highlighting a significant increase in influenza vaccinations. Since the beginning of the 2024-2025 season, over 44,000 doses have been administered across the 139 participating pharmacies, compared to 37,328 in the previous year. Additionally, approximately 15,000 COVID vaccinations have been carried out in 103 pharmacies. The vaccination campaign is expanding, with the Region also testing pneumococcal vaccinations. At the same time, telemedicine services offered by pharmacies are gaining considerable popularity, with around 1,100 residents of Brescia already benefiting from ECGs and cardiac Holter monitoring.
Clara Mottinelli, president of Federfarma Brescia, emphasized the importance of the evolution of pharmacies as healthcare facilities within the community. With the recent signing of the agreement between the National Health System and pharmacies, these services will become an integral part of daily healthcare starting in the early months of 2025. This change marks a significant turning point for Brescia’s pharmacies, which are now recognized as access points to the healthcare system rather than merely as outlets for selling medicinal products.
