On Friday, June 14th, several children and teachers from the Gianni Rodari and Giovanni Paolo II preschools fell ill after having lunch in the school cafeteria. Reported symptoms included diarrhea and abdominal cramps, raising concerns of a possible food poisoning incident.
The Municipality of Desenzano promptly involved the company responsible for supplying meals to the two schools. The company initiated a thorough investigation, which included specific analysis of the equipment used, the food served, and water samples. This series of checks was accompanied by a meeting of the school cafeteria commission.
To determine the exact causes of the illnesses, the appointed company has conducted additional tests and an epidemiological investigation. The raw materials used in the implicated meal have been isolated for detailed analysis.
The local authorities are now awaiting the results of the investigation to shed light on the incident and take any necessary measures to ensure food safety in school cafeterias throughout the area.
In the meantime, preventive measures have been implemented to prevent similar episodes from occurring. These measures include strict control of food supplies and constant verification of hygiene standards in the school kitchens.
