During the checks carried out by the Carabinieri in the areas of Peschiera and Castelnuovo del Garda during the April 25-28 holiday weekend, intensified in the main areas to cope with the increase in visitors due to tourism, four people were arrested.
One of the arrests was made on a 20-year-old Russian national who had a European arrest warrant for drug trafficking. The young man was staying at a tourist facility in the area and was taken to Verona Montorio prison.
Another arrest was made on a 39-year-old Albanian man who was wanted for a two-year prison sentence for tax evasion dating back to the period between 2014 and 2015 when he lived in Bergamo. He was also taken to Verona Montorio prison.
A 65-year-old man from Brescia was found to be at large despite being under house arrest. He had been convicted for an aggravated robbery at a pharmacy in Peschiera. He was arrested and taken to Canton Mombello prison in Brescia.
Lastly, a 34-year-old man of Ghanaian origin was arrested in flagrante delicto for threats, resistance, and insulting a public official. The Carabinieri intervened following a report at a venue in Castelnuovo, where the man, under the influence of alcohol, had threatened the manager and those present. He will face an immediate trial.
