The Veneto Region has approved funding of 2 million 995 thousand euros for the Veneto Alpine Rescue, allocated for the three-year period from 2025 to 2027. The initiative, proposed by the Health Councillor Manuela Lanzarin, emphasizes the importance of rescue and recovery services in the mountains, which recorded 1,081 interventions in 2024, involving 1,225 people. This financial support exceeds the previous amount (2 million 350 thousand euros) and will be distributed over three years: 995 thousand euros in 2025, 1 million in 2026, and 1 million in 2027.
The Alpine Rescue operates through its 28 stations across the region, utilizing specialized resources and equipment to ensure safety during medical emergencies. Data indicates that 70.30% of interventions involve Italian citizens, while the remainder comes from various nationalities. The main causes of incidents are attributed to a lack of preparation and knowledge of the terrain, with a high percentage of hikers being inadequately equipped. Lanzarin reiterated the importance of personal preparedness before undertaking excursions in challenging environments, recommending caution and consulting weather reports.
