The Garda and the Vittoriale played a central role in the Culture and Science Days held in Sydney, organized by the Consulate General of Italy. During these events, coinciding with the week of the Italian language in the world, the president of the Vittoriale degli Italiani, Giordano Bruno Guerri, delivered a lecture on October 21 titled “From Book to Lib(e)ro: A Short Journey,” focusing on the Italian language and the contribution of women in history, with particular reference to Gabriele d’Annunzio.
The following day, on October 22, at Curzon Hall, the fifth edition of the Genio Vagante Award was announced, presented to astrophysicist Orsola De Marco for her remarkable scientific contributions and for representing Italian science abroad. Guerri emphasized the importance of maintaining ties between Italy and talents overseas, quoting a well-known saying by d’Annunzio: “Arm the bow and sail forth into the world.”
