Recently, a significant modification to the project for the Garda Cycle Path was announced, which involves a connection between Gardone Riviera and Limone sul Garda. During an inspection on Tuesday the 10th, the regional infrastructure assessor Claudia Terzi stated that no cycle path will be constructed in this section; instead, a boat transport system will be implemented. This approach aims to ensure the safety of cyclists by avoiding routes near unstable cliffs, where the risk of landslides is high.
The project plans to utilize two hybrid boats for transporting bicycles along the lake, with the goal of reducing traffic on the state road 45 bis Gardesana and improving mobility for both tourists and residents. The mayor of Limone sul Garda, Franceschino Risatti, expressed optimism about the new initiative, predicting a 30% decrease in car traffic in the area within two years of the service’s launch. The Lombardy Region is collaborating with Navigazione Laghi to define the operational details of the initiative, which represents a positive response to the requests of the local community and environmental groups.
