The Garda DOP oil has established itself among the top ten extra virgin oils at the national level, according to the XXII ISMEA-Qualivita Report 2024. This recognition highlights the Italian excellence of the product, which saw a significant increase in both production and value in 2023. Attorney Simone Padovani, President of the Protection Consortium, emphasized that this success is the result of the ongoing commitment of local olive growers and millers who strive to offer a high-quality oil that is increasingly appreciated by consumers.
With an area of just 783 hectares spread across three regions and four provinces, Garda DOP oil continues to stand out in the Italian olive oil landscape thanks to its centuries-old tradition and the unique character conferred by its territory. The report’s data indicate a 45% increase in production value compared to 2022, as well as a 47% increase in consumer value during the same period. During the presentation in Rome on December 2nd, Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida highlighted the growth potential of Italian oil, emphasizing that Geographical Indications are essential tools for enhancing native cultivars and their regions of origin.
