The 2nd National Meeting in Piediluco saw Canottieri Garda Salò shine with a haul of four medals. Over the weekend of May 11th and 12th, around 1,300 athletes competed in the waters of Umbria, including the determined representatives from the Salò club who brought home two golds and two bronzes.
The competition brought great satisfaction to the Salò team. Antonio Paolo Taranto and Ludovico Trainini claimed gold in the men’s Under 17 double, while Emanuele Distaso, in a mixed crew with Matteo Tonelli from CUS Torino, secured first place in the lightweight double, finishing fifth overall.
The Canottieri girls were not to be outdone. In the women’s Under 17 quadruple sculls, Caterina Leali, Lisa Tarolli, Sofia Leni, and Anna Prati clinched third place on the podium. Another bronze medal came from the women’s Under 19 quadruple sculls, thanks to the crew composed of Anna Salvadori, Carlotta Leali, Aurora D’Agostino (Canottieri Cernobbio), and Giada Grillo (SC Timavo).
In addition to the medals, it is worth noting the eighth-place finish achieved by Lisa Tarolli in the A final of the women’s Under 17 single sculls, a result that demonstrates the competitiveness of the Salò athletes even in individual races.
Matteo Pasini, coach of Canottieri Garda Salò, expressed great satisfaction with the results achieved: “I am very pleased with the results obtained by our athletes at this National Meeting. The Canottieri athletes have shown that they are capable of competing at the national level and have the potential to achieve great things.” He added, “Now we will focus on preparing for the Italian Championships, where we aim to finish the racing season in the best possible way.”
