A remarkable surge in bookings on Lake Garda is being recorded in anticipation of the Christmas and New Year period, with accommodation facilities in the Brescia area of Lake Garda ready to close the year with impressive results. Despite only 20% of hotels currently being open, demand is high, with occupancy rates approaching 80% in the most sought-after locations such as Sirmione, Desenzano, and Salò. An increase in bookings for New Year’s Eve is expected, reaching peaks of 50%. Interest in Christmas tourism is supported by over 18 million Italians ready to travel during the holidays.
The president of Federalberghi Brescia, Alessandro Fantini, emphasized that “Christmas will primarily be spent with family,” while New Year’s Eve is anticipated to bring a massive influx to the province. The tourism sector is thus preparing to generate an estimated turnover of 14.7 billion euros, driven by the high demand for overnight stays and holiday-related services.
