Lake Garda is preparing to launch an ambitious tourism promotion project, supported by a significant investment and coordinated by “Garda Unico”. This plan, strongly supported by the tourism departments of the Veneto, Lombardy, and Trentino regions, aims to consolidate the presence of the lake in European markets and expand into the United States.
With over 28 million annual visitors, Lake Garda is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. To further strengthen this position, a budget of €900,000 has been allocated over three years. The main objective is to consolidate traditional European markets and focus on new markets such as North America, where there is great growth potential.
The three-year program will be officially presented during the “Stati Generali del Turismo del Garda” event, which will take place at the end of the 2024 tourist season. The event will be attended by regional councilors Barbara Mazzali, Federico Caner, and Roberto Failoni, along with Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè.
During a meeting held at the headquarters of the Garda Community on June 14th, the main institutions and associations in the sector emphasized the importance of collaboration between public and private entities to improve the quality of the tourism offer. It was clear that “Garda Unico” must be recognized as the only competent entity for unified tourism activities on the lake.
The interregional consortium “Garda Unico”, chaired by Paolo Artelio, holds the official brand “GARDA” and manages the institutional portal “visitgarda.com”. This organization jointly represents all the municipal administrations and tourism operators of the Garda Riviera and hinterland. The three partner DMOs – Destination Verona & Garda Foundation (President Paolo Artelio), APT Garda Dolomiti S.p.A. (President Silvio Rigatti), and Consorzio Garda Lombardia (President Marco Girardi) – collaborate closely with “Garda Unico” in the management of promotional activities.
The Garda Community plays a crucial role in key sectors such as transportation, water mobility, environmental control of the lake basin levels, purification, and navigation safety. Effective governance in these areas is essential to ensure the harmonious development of the lake’s tourist appeal and the quality of life for residents.
Thanks to this new unified project promoted by “Garda Unico”, supported by the three regional departments and local institutions, Lake Garda is poised to embark on a significant path towards continuous and innovative growth in the international tourism landscape.
