Due to forecasts of heavy rainfall, the 45 bis Gardesana occidentale state road will be closed to traffic from 10 pm today until 1-1:30 pm on Thursday, March 28. The decision was made due to the presence of unstable rock blocks in the Rocchetta area, upstream of the Casagranda tunnel entrance and the starting point of the Ponale trail, which remained in place after the landslide on March 8. Despite efforts to mitigate the risks and restore safety in the area, the early closure of the road was deemed necessary to protect public safety.
On Thursday morning, the removal of the rock blocks through controlled blasting is scheduled, followed by brief traffic interruptions to allow for the removal and controlled sinking of any remaining rock volumes. It is expected that these operations will be completed around 6 pm.
Motorists are advised to pay attention to diversion signs and plan their journeys taking into account the temporary closure of the Gardesana occidentale.
The safety of citizens is an absolute priority, and these measures have been taken to ensure their well-being during the adverse weather conditions expected in the coming days. It is therefore recommended to closely follow updates on road conditions and take necessary precautions to avoid dangerous situations.
The reopening of the Gardesana occidentale is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, after the completion of the rock removal operations. It is advisable to constantly check for updates on road conditions and plan journeys considering any changes to the road network.
