Gardone Riviera is preparing to celebrate the feast of its patron saint, Saint Nicholas of Bari, with a significant musical event: the performance of a new hymn dedicated to the saint. The composition, created by the young composer from Brescia, Riccardo Cancelli, will be presented for the first time on Friday, December 6, during a solemn mass at 11 a.m. in the church of Gardone Sopra, presided over by Bishop Mons. Pierantonio Tremolada and co-celebrated by several local priests. In the evening, at 8:30 p.m., the new hymn will be reprised during a concert by the Corale San Nicolò, accompanied by a brass quintet and narrated by Andrea Manni.
The creation of the hymn stems from the lack of music dedicated to Saint Nicholas in the local tradition. Maestro Nicola Chiarini collaborated with the Parish and Don Angelo Olivetti to commission this work, which uses a text by Canon Francesco Saverio Abbrescia, dating back to the 19th century. The hope is that this new composition will become an integral part of the parish celebrations in the future.
