In Gavardo, the bacteriological alarm has finally been lifted. Mayor Davide Comaglio revoked the ordinance yesterday, May 29, 2024, which required residents of Quarena and Casalicolo a Sopraponte to boil tap water before using it for consumption. This measure was taken after a sample from the fountain in via Sant’Antonio showed abnormal levels of Escherichia coli, enterococci, and coliform bacteria. Follow-up analyses confirmed the cessation of contamination, allowing for the resumption of normal water usage.
The restoration of normalcy was communicated through both official channels and door-to-door by volunteers from the Civil Protection. A2A, the water cycle manager, informed the local health authority (Ats) and the municipality of the favorable results of the microbiological analyses. Despite the surprise caused by the emergency, considered a novelty after years of regular parameters, Ats announced further checks at the sampling points in Gavardo to ensure the safety of drinking water.
