The project for a new 18-hole golf course, planned for the Daine area in the municipality of Nago Torbole, is sparking a heated debate between supporters and opponents. Presented in February 2022, the course would cover an area of 50 hectares and require an investment of around 9 million euros. The Vice President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Francesca Gerosa, along with other local officials such as Mayor Gianni Morandi and the Sports Councillor of Arco, Dario Ioppi, have expressed positive opinions about the project, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among entities to ensure a limited impact on the area.
On the other hand, criticisms are abundant. Provincial Councillor Lucia Coppola has raised concerns regarding the environmental impact of the project and the sustainability of the water resources needed for the management of the course. The Coordination for the Protection of the Environment in Alto Garda and Ledro has also opposed the initiative, advocating for prioritizing investments in essential infrastructure rather than expanding the tourism offerings. Opponents highlight the need to preserve the cultural and social identity of the area before attracting new tourists.
