Grana Padano: Record 2024 Budget, Production Increased by 3.2% The Consortium for the Protection of Grana Padano Cheese has announced that it will celebrate its 70th anniversary on April 16 with a meeting where the 2024 budget will be presented. This year has seen a production of 5,635,000 wheels, marking an increase of 3.2%, and exports have reached 51.2% of total production. Over 2.9 million tons of milk from the DOP regions (Lombardy, Veneto, Piacenza, Piedmont, and Trentino) have been transformed into Grana Padano, generating positive results for the 135 dairies and nearly 4,000 farms involved.
The revenue for 2024 is projected at 65 million euros, with advertising investment plans for 2025 set to rise to 53 million euros, split between Italy and abroad. However, the meeting coincides with concerns regarding tariffs imposed by the United States. The Consortium has expressed confidence that ongoing negotiations could lead to a reduction in the tariffs currently affecting Grana Padano, which could jeopardize DOP cheese exports to the American market. The leadership of Grana Padano as the best-selling DOP product in the world is confirmed by the 2024 figures, and the outlook for the future remains positive if the impact of U.S. tariffs can be mitigated.
